I am an entertainer. I juggle, perform magic and attempt escape stunts for events all over the UK, Europe and the wider World. But this blog isn’t about any of those things, at least not specifically.
Over the years I’ve spent a lot of time working in schools running circus workshops and performing educational shows. I’ve seen that these things engage children in ways that regular “main steam” teaching doesn’t, and I think that needs to change.
Having motivated students that are interested in what’s happening in their classroom and excited to discover and learn new things shouldn’t be unusual, it should be a normal occurrence in every classroom in every school throughout the World.
This blog is my way of sharing the highs and lows of my own personal journey from professional entertainer to classroom teacher… And hopefully beyond. I want to use the skills I’ve developed as a performer to teach children in a way that makes them want to go home and share what they’ve learnt, then want to come back and learn more.
I think there needs to be an education revolution. The whole system needs to change, and the only way I can be part of that change is to become part of the system.
If you’ve only just found me the best place to start is at the beginning and if you’d like to get in touch you can do that by dropping me an email using the contact form below or there’s a comments box located at the bottom of every blog entry.
